Dual Credit

Dual credit refers to courses taken in high school that count for both high school and college credit.  These course credits go on your college transcript.  If you took dual credit courses from multiple colleges, you will need to get multiple transcripts sent to your college.

Because dual credit courses are part of your college record (even if you’re still in high school), the grades you get in these courses may impact your college GPA and may affect your eligibility for financial aid.

To maximize the use of dual credit, you want to make sure it is transferable either as part of the statewide general education core or as a course that applies in a degree pathway.   Use the Degree Plans tool and KCTCS’s transfer guide to ensure that dual credit courses are part of the degree pathway you’re interested in.
